Why this exists
Nobody forwards a lie on purpose.
They forward it because it came from someone they trust, it sounded plausible, and checking it would have meant opening four tabs and reading a government press release at eleven at night. So it goes out. Then it goes out again. By morning it is a fact in three group chats and an argument at breakfast.

How do I check if a WhatsApp forward is fake?
Copy the message and paste it into DisMis. It gets checked against live news reporting and claim-verification archives and comes back stamped DISMISSED, LEGIT, MID or SUS, with every source listed and linked. No signup, nothing to install.
Is DisMis free?
Yes, and there is no account. There is a fair-use ceiling of eight checks an hour per reader, which exists so one person cannot burn the service down for everybody else. If you are hitting it, you are researching, not checking a forward.
What do DISMISSED, LEGIT, MID and SUS actually mean?
DISMISSED means the reporting contradicts it. LEGIT means credible sources confirm it. MID means true in part, misleading in the rest, usually a real fact that has been stretched. SUS means nothing on the public record settles it either way yet, so we say so rather than guess. That fourth one is the one most checkers do not have.
Is DisMis a scam?
We do not issue a verdict on ourselves. A website that investigates itself and comes back clean has told you nothing you could act on. What we can do is show the working. Every card prints the sources it used. The registration for dismis.in is public, so WHOIS it rather than believing either side. Who runs this is on the About page. Or put the question to DisMis itself and it will answer you to your face.
Do I need to install an app?
No. For now DisMis runs entirely in the browser, on any phone or laptop. Open the site, paste, read. If you want it on your home screen, add it from your browser menu. An app may follow later for a smoother run of the same thing, but you will never need one to get a verdict.
Does DisMis report news?
No. We are not a news outlet and we do not break stories. We check the ones already going around: a forward in the family group, a post, a reel, a screenshot of a headline, or something you only heard.
